Contests

Contest Rules:


1. You must register and attend the conference to enter the contest. (There are no additional fees for entering contests.)
2. You may enter as many contests as you like, however, you may only enter each category once.  For example: If you enter Beginning Poetry you can't enter Advance Poetry.
3. All entries must be unpublished and not accepted by a publisher at the time of entry. 
4. Entries must be sent by: October 17, 2014
5. You may submit your entries to contests @ westbranchchristianwriters.com (do not use spaces in address when sending your submission)
6. Please DO NOT put your name on your manuscripts.
Include a seperate document with the list of your titles and catagory with your name and address.


POETRY CONTESTS


BEGINNING POETRY:
One poem, in any poetic style, with a total of 40 lines or less (not counting the title). This is for newbies, not humble poets. 


ADVANCED POETRY:
If you have been published in poetry, or consider yourself more advanced than a bigger than enter here. You may enter one poem, in any poetic style, with a total of 40 lines or less (not counting the title).

FICTION CONTESTS



NOVEL BEGINNING:
One entry of 1,000 words or less, which is the beginning of a novel in any genre. This may be aimed at adults, young adults, or middle grade.

SHORT STORY:
You may send one complete story of 1,200 words or less, in any genre. This may be aimed at adults, young adults, or middle grade. 

CHILDREN'S STORY:
You may enter one children's book or short story for magazine article, complete in 800 words or less.
 

NON-FICTION CONTESTS


DEVOTIONAL:
one entry written in the format of The Upper Room or The Secret Place. Please specify which format you are using. Check their websites for guidelines. Your scripture passage should be more than a few verses long, and relates well to your devotional.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
One entry of 1,000 words or less. Written from first person point of view. It can be romantic, dramatic, spiritual... you choose. Must make one strong connection between the experience and practical application in life. 

BLOG POST:
One blog posting of 500 words or less on any subject.
